Poultry Management Systems Inc. is pleased to announce the appointment of Doug Powell as president.

Doug has been with PMSI since 1987, when he joined the company as an applications engineer. He was promoted to vice president/general manager in 1992. Over the years, he has developed new software features in response to the ever-increasing demand of the poultry industry for improved automation and more sophisticated management tools. As the business has grown, so has Doug's role at PMSI.

"Appointing Doug Powell to lead PMSI is a natural extension of things. His dedication to the company over the years and his knowledge of the industry's needs make this the right thing to do," says Stephen Herbruck, who will remain chairman of the board of PMSI.

"I've had the privilege of being surrounded by an excellent staff and a really great group of end users," Doug said. "To me, it's all about listening to the needs of our customers and putting them first. If we can provide an excellent product along with top-notch support, everyone benefits. Over time, our goal as a company is to build lasting relationships and increase the productivity and profitability of the industry at large."

After earning a BSEE at the College of Engineering at Michigan State University, Doug spent 10 years working as a controls engineer designing warehouse distribution systems, machine tools and robotic control systems.

Doug's experience is complemented by a solid farming background, so he is well suited to understand his customers' needs. He and his wife raise approximately 120 head of purebred Angus cattle, he said. "I am the fifth generation to be involved in agricultural activities on the family homestead, which was founded in 1842."
